Gynura, also known as purple passion vine or velvet plant, is a beautiful houseplant with striking purple leaves.

Native to Southeast Asia, Gynura is a relatively easy-to-care-for plant that can add a pop of color to any indoor space.

 care instructions:

  • Light: Gynura thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, which can scorch its leaves.

  • Watering: Water the plant when the top inch of soil is dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. During the winter months, water sparingly.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent mix, to prevent water from accumulating in the soil.

  • Temperature: Gynura prefers temperatures between 60-75°F (15-24°C). Avoid placing the plant near drafty windows or air conditioning vents.

  • Fertilizer: Feed the plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).

  • Pruning: Gynura can be pruned to control its growth and promote bushier growth. It can also be propagated by stem cuttings.
