Haworthia fasc. Concolor

Haworthias are a genus of small succulent plants native to Southern Africa. They are known for their rosette-shaped leaves, often adorned with intricate patterns and translucent "windows" that allow sunlight to penetrate deep into the plant.

  • Varieties: There are over 150 species of Haworthias, each with its own unique characteristics and charm. From the classic Haworthia attenuata with its zebra-like stripes to the compact and clumping Haworthia cooperi, there's a Haworthia variety to suit every succulent lover's taste.

Care Tips: Haworthias are relatively low-maintenance plants, making them perfect for both beginner and experienced plant enthusiasts. Here are some essential care tips to keep your Haworthia thriving:

  • Light: Haworthias prefer bright, indirect light. Place them near a window where they can receive plenty of sunlight without being exposed to direct rays.

  • Watering: Water your Haworthia sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so err on the side of underwatering rather than overwatering.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix to ensure proper drainage and prevent waterlogged soil.

  • Temperature: Haworthias thrive in temperatures between 18°C to 27°C. Protect them from extreme heat or cold, as they are sensitive to temperature fluctuations.

  • Propagation: Haworthias can be easily propagated through offsets (pups) or leaf cuttings. Simply remove the offsets or leaves from the parent plant and allow them to callus over for a few days before planting them in a well-draining soil mix. Keep the soil lightly moist until roots develop, and you'll soon have new Haworthia babies to add to your collection!
